I also know that this new UI will make me depressed because I have to explain to our customers how to tell me their ID (which is hidden now) or what they have to do with this Session-ID thing. I've posted on the TV-Forum and got in touch with TV Support. There are already a bunch of people complaining about this new UI and so did I. In a single day that can exceed ~70 sessions for my colleagues and me. So we have to manually close and delete every session that is created. Those new sessions that are created, expire but they are not closed. Try to remember 200+ PC Names and tell me this was a good idea. I have to know the workstation- /servername and search for that. Now if I type the group name (customer name) in the searchbox there are not results. This is not possible anymore in the new UI, as the try to force this "Session-ID" thing where you can create a Session and both sides have to join the session. Now, if I quickly need to check something on a server from customer "XYZ", I type the customers name (XYZ) into the searchbox and am shown all the available TV connections from that group. Some of the are Hosts on Servers and some of them are just normal TV clients on the customers workstations. In every group we have from 1 TV connection up to around 10 TV connections. This means we currently have 74 Groups in our "Computers & Contacts" list. We create a group/folder in TV for every customer that has self-hosted systems and is not using Cloudservers (where we can connect via RDP). In the "old" design we were able to quickly search for a group and were shown all the clients inside that group. I clicked it and immediately was hit with regret. Does anyone have any low cost alternatives to teamviewer that operates similarly where the client has control of when the software is active (on launch) and passwords that generate for each session? Teamviewer has long been overly expensive for the model of small business so this is a good time to shop around regardless.Ī couple of weeks ago I saw the switch in TV to "Test the new UI". One of the reasons that I've stuck with Teamviewer for so long is I actually like the fact that my clients have the choice of when someone connects to them instead of something that is running all the time like logmein, its a philosophical difference as I know plenty of techs that want persistent access. If you don't know what I'm talking about, download the current version of teamviewer or have a client update to the new version and see what I'm talking about, if it bugs you, please reach out to Teamviewer and speak your mind. Perhaps I'm overreacting but I just hate when software companies make these unilateral changes without any option to "turn off the new crap". Is this annoying anyone? I actually have paid for a license going back many years and have all my clients so used to reading off their ID and password and now without warning you are going to have to tell your clients an ID to join a session.
